Getting Started with Google Sheets

Create a new spreadsheet

Start a new spreadsheet from your computer, phone, or tablet. You can create, view, edit, and share spreadsheets wherever you are.

To create a new spreadsheet:

  1. Go to sheets.google.com
  2. Click on the + button in the bottom right
  3. Or, from Google Drive, click on + New and select Google Sheets

Navigating the interface

The Google Sheets interface has several key components that allow you to work efficiently with your data.

Menu bar

Access all features and commands through the menu options at the top of the screen.

Formula bar

View and edit the contents of the selected cell, including formulas and calculations.

Cell grid

The main spreadsheet area where you enter and organize your data.

Sheet tabs

Create and navigate between multiple sheets within a single spreadsheet file.
